“Trinity Of Terror” Tour featuring “Ice Nine Kills”, “Motionless In White”, and “Lilith Czar”

This was considered one of the most popular heavy metal/goth tours of 2022. The “Trinity of Terror” originally was to include “Ice Nine Kills”, “Motionless In White”, and “Black Veil Brides”. However, on the day of the show, it was reported that “Black Veil Brides” would not be performing due to member(s) having tested positive for COVID-19. But, we did get the other two main bands, along with warm up artist “Lilith Czar”.

I am normally a fan of heavy metal, but admittedly am not familiar with these particular bands. A good friend of mine wanted to take his son to the show, as his son was a big fan of the bands. My friend asked if I’d tag along, since I was familiar with the venue and could keep him company. So, that’s how I ended up at this sold out show.

Lilith Czar opened the evening and is a solid singer while trying to present a somewhat goth-girl type image. When I “Googled” Lilith Czar, I found she is Juliet Simms, and Juliet was on season 2 of NBCs “The Voice”. So, no surprise she is a great singer. She apparently thought a re-branding would be good, and now performs as “Lilith Czar”. Her band featured a female drummer, who was very animated – fun to watch. Overall, the music was a bit generic and forgettable, but she could have a future. After 7 songs, Lilith bid farewell, and the show continued.

Motionless In White was up next. My friend’s son is a big fan, and he said they were great. Their lead singer (Chris “Motionless” Cerulli) wears a bullet-proof vest and white face paint. He was definitely a strong “front man”, and led the band through a solid 60 minutes of new-era metal music. Being a bass guitar player myself, I was a bit disappointed to not see a bass player on stage with the band. Come to find out, their bass player (Justin Morrow) was also out with COVID. However, the band agreed to perform without him – I think they just cranked up the low EQ on the guitars a bit. It was noticeable to me, but many probably did not get as bothered. Overall, Motionless In White is an energetic band with some nice hooky songs. With a bit more polish (and less profanity), they could be on their way to bigger things.

Finally, we got Ice Nine Kills. I had not heard this band either, and a quick “Google” search told me their name comes from a reference to the fictional substance ice-nine from the novel “Cat’s Cradle” by Kurt Vonnegut. The band has made a name for themselves by writing songs based on horror movies. Song titles such as “It is the end” (referencing the “It” movie), “Ex-Mortis” (referencing the “Evil Dead” movies), “The Shower Scene” (referencing “Psycho” – my live video below) – you get the idea. This isn’t an original idea, but the band takes it a step further and has the lead singer or actors come out in costume and props related to the movie referenced in the song. The songs are solid, and the band has a unified show – compared to Motionless In White. My biggest complaint was too much stage fog during the performance. But, overall, I could see why the crowd loves them. They are a tight band with some cool songs.

The venue was packed, and it seemed like everyone was buying band merchandise – except not much business at the “Black Vile Brides” table – probably due to them not performing – Duh!. Lines were backed up everywhere, so that made things a bit of a challenge. But, we all had a good time, and got out alive – HA!

Here is some live video of “Ice Nine Kills” playing their song “The Shower Scene” – this was shot from my seat up in the balcony, so I apologize for the people waving arms in front of me.
